Sunday Service 2026-10-18: Saved by Faith | From Slavery to Sonship in Christ

This Sunday we continued our study of Galatians, focusing on chapter 4 and the freedom we have as children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Using the story of Naaman in 2 Kings 5, we were reminded that our relationship with God is not built on our performance, religious rituals, or ability to earn His approval. Naaman came to trust the God of Israel through the healing he received, and his story illustrates the heart of the gospel: we are brought into God’s family by faith, not by our own efforts.

This message reminds us that:

    • We are saved by faith, not by works. We cannot earn God’s favor through good deeds, religious practices, or personal accomplishments. Our relationship with Him rests on trusting Him.
    • We are children of God, not slaves to our own efforts. Through the Spirit of His Son, God enables us to cry out, “Abba, Father,” and live in the freedom of a relationship with Him.
    • God’s Word, Spirit, and Church guide us in truth. These three anchors help us discern what is true, challenge our assumptions, and grow in our faith together.
    • Our lives are part of God’s bigger story. Even when our circumstances seem confusing or overwhelming, God is working all things together for good according to His purpose.
    • The kingdom of light is a life submitted to God. When we trust Him rather than insist on our own way, we learn to live according to His will instead of returning to the bondage of self-reliance.
As we reflect on what it means to belong to God’s family, we are challenged to let go of the idea that we must earn His love and instead rest in the grace He has freely given us through Christ. Our calling is to trust our Father, submit to His purposes, and encourage one another as members of the body of Christ.

Join us for worship, prayer, and a timely reminder that we are saved by grace through faith—not by our own efforts—and that in Christ, we are children and heirs of God.
